9 June 2010: Prestwich Challenge kicks off week 5 of the Prestwich festival.

Week 5 of Prestwich festival kicks off with the Prestwich Challenge - an exhausting 8 mile team race over obstacles.

The challenge starts from Sedgely Park Rugby Club at 10am on June 13 and competitors will battle it out to see who can be crowned champion.

For those who prefer a more relaxing weekend there is music in St Mary's Flower Park with Radcliffe Brass Band on Sunday June 13 at 2pm.

Prestwich Library hosts a poignant exhibition on the social history of Prestwich Hospital throughout the week.

Time for Tea Café and the Blue Bay Indian Restaurant are running Festival Specials all week and you can test your knowledge on Prestwich with a pub quiz at The Same Yet In on Monday evening at 9pm

On Tuesday June 15 between 12pm and 2pm there is an over 50's keep fit, belly dancing, line and tea dancing at the Longfield Suite. No previous experience needed - complete novices are welcome.

On 19 June St Mary's Park will host the Prestwich Carnival Football Tournament featuring the very best of junior football talent.

The week ends on a high the Love Prestwich Festival Ball spectacular with electrifying Latin American dance and a mega raffle which takes place at the Longfield Suite.

David Curtis Festival Organiser said, "Where else but Prestwich could you have so much choice and fun. If you haven't been to a Festival event yet, don't miss out. There is plenty to choose from including free events".

Cllr Vic D'Albert, Prestwich Local Area Partnership Chairperson said, "I am so impressed with the variety of activities. The Festival is certainly proving vey popular and putting Prestwich on the map".
